Style Eyes Book Review

Today in the life of a college student was pretty much blahh and well relaxed. The boyfriend and I went to Denny's for a nice breakfast this morning, and we both had bought huge platters of yummy food. Afterwards, we both came back and basically did nothing. I, rather late, had a very strong urge to clean my dorm, which I had accomplished within a half hour, and then pretty much readied for the day. Studying is surely to happen sooner or later, whenever I can find the 'urge' (that rarely comes) to do so.

Just yesterday after I had gotten out of work, my package from Amazon finally arrived. Within it was this book called Style Eyes by Taylor Chang-Babaian. Last night and today I had read the book, and it was pretty much a very good read, and I learned quite a bit from Taylors' tips as well. There are many tips and tricks for all the different eyes, ages, skin types, etc.

The book goes on even further with simple how-to's for the different styles like the smokey eye. Since today I wasn't going anywhere in my yoga pants, I decided to try out one of her how-to's and tried Taylors' 'natural' look. The natural look was one of the easier looks to do and it turned out great.

After:

Just ignore my eyebrows. They get a bit crazy here and there, and have a mind of their own >_>. I'm deciding on doing a tutorial on eyebrows like mine, since mine are like the mad scientist eyebrows.

Here they are a bit more tamed thanks to Urban Decay's brow box. It comes with two different shades, in brown sugar. It has two shades, tiny tweezers, a brow brush, and a hide away drawer full of eyebrow wax. I LOVE this mainly because it helps to tame my horrendous brows. :3

Anyways, the natural look seems more like a simple day to day look. It's quite easy and takes little time to do. Maybe another day I'll do a tutorial on one of her styles if my skin ever decides to be nice to me and not break out.

What's in my make-up box prt. 1

Today we had a snow day and I decided that it would be the perfect day to show off what exactly I have inside my make-up box. I'll go through the box, all my brushes and tools, blushes, eye shadow, foundation/concealer, etc.

Box: My make-up box is a train case that I had received as a gift quite a few Christmas's ago; like when I was 13. My mom had found it a while ago and my old make-up case I was using was just a make-up travel bag, completely stuffed full. I doubt you can find it anywhere today, but I really like the train cases. They have a ton of space within them which is great if you own a lot of make-up like I do.

I really do love it, but it doesn't have enough room for ALL of my make-up. I live in a dorm currently, and being restricted of room, having all of my make-up in one place is great. I have been scoping out bigger, more expandable ones; but they are quite pricey for my budget so until then, this is what I'll settle with.

Tools of the trade: I currently own 8 different eye brushes, 1 powder brush, 2 blush brushes, 1 concealer brush which is double ended, and 1 puff thing I got free in a Cover Girl true blends mineral blush. I also have 1 eye lash curler, and an eyebrow brush.

Most of my brushes as you can see are Sonia Kashuk. I really love these brushes because they aren't a small fake set, but a nice set that is easy to clean and doesn't hold back on eye shadow color. I had bought them for under $15 at Target during the after Christmas sales in a large set that included a booklet to house them.

The large blush brush from Sonia Kashuk I had bought separately for about $18 at Target as well. The smaller blush brush that came with the set wasn't big enough nor did it really seem to pick up any blush.

I also own two Sephora brushes, one smudge brush and one blending brush. I LOVE Spehora, and of course their brushes. Their brushes aren't harsh on the eyes (my skin is soooo sensitive to just about anything) and they pick up and put on color amazingly.

The large black brush I had bought at Walmart for about $8 and it's real intent was for blush, but I use it for my powder foundation; physicians formula foundations seem a bit harder for foundation brushes to really pick any up and this brush works great for that.

My foundation brush I too, bought at Walmart and it was just about $6-7 and works great; the double ends are more efficient and great for travel.

My eye lash curler was from I believe Walmart, or Target. I've had it since I was 16, so it's a bit old, and I only sometimes use it. I can't remember the price but I know it's from Revlon. Since it's so old, I would say that I would recommend this brand for such things mainly because it's still in great shape; it also came with refills for the spongy lip of the curler itself.

Sometime soon when I find the time, I will continue with all the other things within my box. And if I have more time I will probably do up swatches in a different post for all of my shadows.

Also, currently I am working on crocheting a Cardigan from The Crochet Closet by Lisa Gentry. I am almost halfway done, but trying to find time between classes, homework, and work is really hard. In another post too, I will talk more about this but now it is time to un-procrastinate and study.

Beginnings

This pretty much is the first post and my very first post EVER on my own blog. I really do think that explaining what exactly this blog will entail would be quite helpful.

I've recently became re-interested in makeup and crafts. I have always learned a great deal from my grandmother about sewing, crocheting, knitting, etc. Currently, I am working on crocheting a cardigan for myself, whenever I can find the time. I guess I should say that I am currently a full time college student. This also limits me from spending money on my makeup. A Starbucks job doesn't quite bring home the bacon. Throughout high school, I started to wear makeup, and during that time, tried perfecting what looks good and bad on myself all while on a limited spending budget.

Basically, this blog is meant to show what you can create with makeup, all while on a limited spending budget. And on the way, I'll be showing you what I am currently working on.
